VALDOSTA, GA (WTXL) - A lawyer for the Valdosta State University student, involved in an American flag stomping protest, speaks out, following his client's arrest.
Investigators connected Eric Sheppard to a gun that was found in a backpack near VSU's library. He was on the run for more than a month and was arrested yesterday in Tampa.
Sheppard's attorney says he voluntarily waived his right to an extradition hearing today in Hillsborough County.
His attorney says sheppard is not a threat, and is hoping to learn from this experience, saying "he does not wish anyone any harm and was reacting to the very aggressive and hostile threats of violence against him and the people close to him." end quote
