TALLAHASSEE, FL (wtxl) - Jameis Winston’s lawyer is saying that a civil lawsuit from the woman who is accusing him of sexually assaulting her is likely.
According to David Cornwell, Winston’s attorney, his accuser has four years from the time the assault took place in December of 2012, to file the suit. Cornwell says he fully expects a civil lawsuit to be filed even though Winston was never charged.
In December 2013, prosecutors cited inconsistencies and flaws in the evidence and in the woman's memory.
Winston is also facing an investigation from FSU, making it possible he won't even receive his degree.
A university board is expected to finalize results from their investigation soon.
