BRUNSWICK, GA. (WTXL) - A lawsuit is filed against the publisher of Ebony Magazine and writer Frederic Rosen over articles on the death of 17 year old Kendrick Johnson.

According to multiple sources, this week Rick and Karen Bell filed a civil libel and slander complaint in the U.S. District Court in Brunswick.

The suit says, a series of stories on ebony.com called Kendrick Johnson's death a murder, and through fictitious names referenced their sons as suspects. The suit also says, after the articles were published their sons were threatened with bodily harm through postings on social media.

Johnson was found dead in a rolled up gym mat at Lowndes High School in January of 2013. Investigators ruled his death an accident but Johnson's parents believe someone killed him.

The U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia later launched a Federal Investigation into Johnson's death.
