TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Tallahassee Police Officers are hitting the pavement Thursday, going door-to-door to hear from local communities.
It's all part of the Operation Safe Neighborhood initiative.
TPD wants to know what's going in neighborhoods around town, so they can continue keeping Tallahassee safe.
For the past four years, TPD has gone into different parts of town, hearing from residents and handing out safety information.
Officer Damon Miller, with TPD says, crime in the Capital City is the lowest it's been in five years. It's community efforts, like Operation Safe Neighborhood that are making a difference.
"This program is designed to promote public safety with organized community walks through Tallahassee neighborhoods," said Officer Miller. "It's just good to let everyone know that the community and the city still cares about the citizens of Tallahassee. Just promote safety and deter crime."
Officer Miller welcomes anyone to come join this safety initiative and engage with local officers and city officials.
Thursday is the first in a series of six community walks this summer.
