TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Memorial Day is quickly approaching, which means many people will be traveling for the holiday and police are recommending that everyone, including car seat riders, stay safe.

For children, it is especially important to make sure they are properly buckled into a car or booster seat. Car seats offer better protection for babies and toddlers, while booster seats help make children taller so regular seat belts fit properly.

Earlier today, local "child passenger safety technicians" set up an inspection area for parents and caretakers to address any car and booster seat concerns.

These nationally certified technicians answered questions, properly set up, and explain car seats for those that came by.

In the state of Florida, all children six years old and younger must ride in a federally approved child car seat, then booster seat.

Of course, if you missed Wednesday's car seat inspection but still have questions or need help, you can contact the special operations division within the Tallahassee Police Department.
