TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Today is the deadline for parents to apply to enroll their children in magnet schools in Leon County for the 2017 - 2018 school year.
However this year, parents can apply for "school choice" outside of magnet schools until April 1st.
Due to a state mandate, parents now have the option of filling out an application to see their child enrolled in any school in Leon County provided that they can give their child transportation to and from their classes.
According to Petley, the district is limited in the requests they grant, meaning, they can only allow a child in to a school of their choice if space is available.
