CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - A popular Florida lakeshore is closed after an alligator grabbed a woman who was out swimming.

Felicitie Gillette, 24, was out swimming in Hernando Lake, near Tampa, when an alligator came and attacked her.

Luckily, she espaced the gator's grip.

One man says the county needs to better maintain the lake's public areas.

Currently a trapper is working to find the alligator.

County officials hope to re-open the area by the weekend.
