MAYO, Fla. (WTXL)-- Lafayette County residents say they're upset about emergency medical services in the area.
They tell us they want something done about problems they're experiencing with first responders-- something they say has been going on for months.
County commissioners held a meeting Monday morning. Last Thursday, Trevor Hicks, the former director of the Lafayette County EMS, resigned from his position. At the meeting, the commissioners voted 4-1 for Hicks to leave his position as director. They also voted 3-2 to keep him as a paramedic.
Residents say they aren't happy with the decision and described their frustrations to us last week.
"A hundred good calls does not make up for one bad call of somebody who lost their life," said Travis Sullivan.
"They need to act and respond as an emergency service," said Kashina Taylor. "In Lafayette county, we are a small town and we expect the best. That's what I expected when I called them out for my father."
We reached out to the county commission for comment, but said they could not talk to us about the meeting or concerns from residents.
