LAFAYETTE Co., FL (WTXL) - The Lafayette County School District has been ranked as the number one "up and coming" school district in Florida.
The ranking comes from school ranking website StartClass.com. The website's parent company, Graphiq, describes the site as an, "education research website that provides students, parents, and educators with everything they need to confidently research education options."
The website says they looked at school districts across the country that participated in state math and reading assessments during the 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 school years and compared them to graduation rates for those years. The school districts that saw the most improvement between the years made the list.
According to the website, Lafayette District Schools went from a 46th proficiency percentile in the 2011-2012 school year to a 51st percentile in 2012-2013.
The district also had an increased in graduation rates between those two years, going from the 29th percentile to the 88th percentile.
The district was ranked number 11 out of the 46 states that were included in the data.
The website does note that because, "...the sample size is only two school years... the data could be influenced by a year-to-year fluctuation."
