JACKSON COUNTY, FL (WTXL) - Five people are dead after a traffic accident Sunday afternoon on I-10 at mile marker 152 in Grand Ridge.
The accident happened around 4 p.m., said the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said that a Honda Civic was traveling eastbound on the interstate when the driver drove across the center median and into the path of a truck headed westbound.
The driver of the Honda was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The other five passengers, including four young children, were pronounced dead on scene, said troopers. Two dogs were also killed in the crash.
The driver and three passengers in the truck are University of Mississippi students who were coming home from the Ole Miss vs. Florida football game in Gainesville, according to WMBB News. All four men were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
