Killearn Lakes community impacted by suspected arson-based house fire

Posted

TALLAHASSEE (WTXL) – Neighbors say the house fire in Killearn Lakes is being investigated as a suspect burglary and arson. This all happened on the 8100 block of Blue Quill Trail. The home owners are said to have been on a camping trip in Georgia and while they were gone, their house burned down.

According to one neighbor, a safe was opened up and several items were missing.  This is causing investigators to believe that it could have been a burglary and arson combination.

Meanwhile, due to the amount of water used to fight the fire, water pressure fell significantly in the Bradfordville area water system, causing Talquin Electric to issue a boil water advisory for Killearn Lakes.  That advisory has since been lifted.

But area residents are concerned because Talquin did not directly reach out to them to publicize the advisory. However, John Hallas, with the cooperative, says that there is another option, “Members can sign up now for text notifications at our website so they can get information pushed to them as such...but it will be an 'opt in' system."
