BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (WTXL) - A community program in Bainbridge is one step closer to reaching more children to build stronger bonds with police.
"Kids 'n' Kops" was started by Bainbridge Public Safety three years ago.
Local groups have worked together to get a shuttle bus for the program, to bring in more children. The bus was donated by the Decatur County School Board as a surplus in its fleet.
Local businesses painted and repaired it and another business is working on a decal to put on the side.
Once it's ready, Bainbridge Public Safety says the bus can seat up to 70 children.
Sergeant David Cutchin says several kids didn't have reliable transportation to be in the program but now, he looks forward to seeing "Kids 'n' Kops" grow even more.
Sergeant Cutchin says the bus should be ready in about a week. He hopes the program can include field trips in the future to give the children more opportunities.
