Kendrick Johnson's Parents Appear in Court

LOWNDES CO, Ga-- The family of Valdosta teen Kendrick Johnson appeared in court Friday, more than three years after the 17-year-old's death.

Friends and family of Kendrick Johnson came out to Lowndes County Superior Court to support his parents, who were in court this morning, facing a lawsuit from several former defendants, who are now seeking a total of nearly a million dollars in attorney fees.

After the first attorney alleged the lawsuit had no factual basis, the Johnsons' attorney spent nearly two hours cross-examining him, as he defended the Johnsons' intentions with the lawsuit.

The family temporarily dismissed the suit in March, as the U.S. Attorney's Office has an open investigation. However, the attorneys claim their clients have had to hire legal help during the course of the proceedings and are entitled to having their fees paid.
