Macon, Ga. (WTXL) -- A federal grand jury investigating Kendrick Johnson's death subpoenaed his former schoolmates and their parents, reports CNN.

Current students at Lowndes High School and current and former students at Valdosta High School were seen entering the Macon courthouse on Thursday, said CNN.

On January 11, 2013, the teen's body was discovered in the Lowndes High School gym in a rolled-up mat. The death report claimed the incident was accidental and was the result of Johnson getting stuck in the mat after attempting to retrieve his shoe; suffocation by his own body weight was the initial ruling.

The parents of Kendrick Johnson say the story was a cover up and that their son was murdered.

Results from a separate autopsy claimed the death was due to "apparent non-accidental, blunt force trauma."

Johnson's parents continue to seek for the truth and justice for their son.
