TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Holidays and family get-togethers can stress anyone out including your pets.
Dr. Sherri Kasper said holidays can be a stressful time for animals often because they're around people they're not familiar with.
Loud parties and loud fireworks are also stressors.
If your pet is hiding, not eating as much, barking or whining they're probably stressed out.
And Dr. Sherri Kasper said that's bad for their health.
"Stress can lead to more problems with dogs and cats and sometimes stress full events can lead to chronic anxiety problems, so if we can try to decrease the strees in our pets lives even that one day a year that may reduce the amount of anxiety they have when they get older," said Dr.Kasper.
If your animals do get stressed make sure you give them a familiar place to hang out or a dark and quiet room.
If they continue to act stressed get them checked out by a vet.
