TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - A new restaurant in Tallahassee is hoping to make a difference for those fighting breast cancer. The Edison restaurant near Cascades Park is sponsoring a 5K on Sunday - all benefiting the American Cancer Society.
WTXL spoke to a local breast cancer survivor, Viletta Coombs, who is now a volunteer for the American Cancer Society.
She hopes her own experience will remind people to get examined early: "Had I waited six months, I wouldn't necessarily be here. Because instead of finding it at stage one, it would have been stage three or four, so thank goodness it was found at stage one when we had meaningful and substantive opportunity to do something about it."
The "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer" walk is Sunday, October 18th at 3 P.M. at Cascades Park.
