TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A 17-year-old accused of shooting a 15-year-old victim last year will be tried as an adult after being connected to a series of burglaries in the Tallahassee area.

Jaylen Miller, 17, was arrested Monday on new charges related to a series of burglaries in June 2018.

He will be tried as an adult on the following charges: Armed burglary, burglary, two counts of grand theft of a motor vehicle, grand theft, petit theft and resisting an officer. Miller will also be prosecuted as an adult for attempted homicide and aggravated assault with a firearm charges stemming from an incident in October 2018.

A motion for jail custody document states that Miller was arrested in October for shooting a 15-year-old boy. Investigators say Miller pointed a gun at the victim's head and shot at the victim as he ran away, hitting him in the leg with a bullet.

When investigators spoke to Miller after his October arrest, documents say he admitted that he and his three friends had committed several burglaries around northern Tallahassee.

He admitted that he was involved in a vehicle burglary on June 14 in the 3300 block of Hancock Drive.

In that incident, one of the suspects with Miller shot at a homeowner who interrupted their burglary. Miller told investigators that he was driving a stolen car at the time that he and his friends stole when they went "popping" several months ago.

Miller also confessed to helping steal a running car from a local gas station in September 2018 and breaking into Capital City Mitsubishi in May with seven to 10 other juveniles.

He appeared in court for the new charges on Tuesday, where his bond was set at $32,003. He is due in court on Feb. 5 for a case management hearing regarding the attempted homicide and aggravated assault charges.
