TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - For the second time this week, an inaugural ball was held at the Civic Center in Tallahassee.
Friday's event though was unrelated to politics.
The Junior League of Tallahassee hosted their first ever Sunshine State Ball.
It's a night of glitz and glam, featuring entertainment by Tallahassee's own Tobacco Road Band, and headliner, country star Rodney Adkins.
Over 250 tickets were sold and at $500 a piece, the Junior League said they exceeded their expectations.
"We wanted to throw a big party about the Capital City and we're the Capital City League, and this is an amazing way to showcase Tallahassee and the community that we serve and all of the proceeds go right back to the community and our fundraising," said Lex Phillips, President of Junior League of Tallahassee.
Phillips said the Junior League of Tallahassee has contributed $2.5 million to the community since they began in 1960.
By the way, the Sunshine State Ball fundraiser replaced the Whale of a Sale, which Junior League hosted for more than 40 years.
