TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - One of the eight suspects in the Hoyt Birge murder trial was back in court Thursday.

Family members of Hoyt Birge and Paige Vowell arrived at the Leon County Courthouse for the bond hearing of Vowell.

Chuck Collins, Vowell's attorney, asked for her to receive bond as she did not have any violent past, and has attended all of her court appearances.

As for the victim's attorney, she said that Peter Tourney, another victim in this crime, was scared when Vowell contacted him after the fact. Birge's mother took the stand this afternoon and gave her statement as to why Vowell should not receive a bond.

"As far as I'm concerned, she is a dangerous person and she should remain in custody," said Phalecia Birge, Hoyt's mother. "Because of her, I have to live everyday with images of how my son was killed. It gives me nightmares."

The judge ruled against a bond for Vowell. This means she will remain in custody until the case goes to trial.

Vowell, along with 6 of the other suspects will return to court for their cases on January 16th.
