VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - Valdosta protestor Eric Sheppard was extradited this morning from the Hillsborough County Jail in Florida to the Lowndes County Jail in Georgia, according to the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office (LCSO).
LCSO spokesperson Stryde Jones says Sheppard then appeared in the Lowndes County Magistrate Court for an arraignment hearing, where the judge denied him bond. Jones says Sheppard will remain in the Lowndes County Jail until a bond is set.
Sheppard was taken into custody in central Florida last week. He was wanted after police say he brought a gun onto the campus of Valdosta State University.
Sheppard was also wanted for various threats made over social media.
Sheppard's lawyer, however, says the 22-year old was just acting out of fear and in reaction to a "Very hostile and aggressive environment". He says Sheppard was never a threat.
