(WTXL) - Hurricane Jose has strengthened into a category 4 hurricane according to the National Weather Service.
An Air Force Hurricane Hunter plane, the first so far into Jose, found the hurricane was much stronger than previously estimated.
Data from the Hurricane Hunter plane indicated that the maximum sustained winds are near 150 mph.
Experts say Jose is still expected to turn northwest before reaching the Leeward Islands on Saturday.
It is still too early to tell what Jose could mean for Florida.
