TALLAHASSEE, FL.(WTXL)-- Life Church International, along with the Joseph Project Father's Day Initiative, held its first ever back to work job fair Saturday with the hope of a second chance in mind.
The job fair was designed to help those who were once behind bars recieve a second chance with employment. With over a dozen employers from the Tallahassee area ranging from Super Lube to Waffle House to event the Mayor's Office, the event offered a major opportunity for those trying to get back up. There was also to submit online as well as physical applications. The church offered career counseling and on spot interviews. Participating employers said that the fair was a great way for to give back to the community and provide opportunities for those who might suffer from employment limitations.
Reverend Gregory James a man who was once behind bars himself said, "It gives us an opportunity to make life better and provide hope to the individuals that there are employers that believe in second chances and even though I served time, I can regain my life and live again. That's what it's all about."
Organizers say at least eight people were hired on sight and they have hopes of making this event annual. Sunday, the church honored ex offenders who made an impact in the community in their morning service.
