TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - It's official: Deondre Francois will be out for the rest of the season.

Florida State football head coach Jimbo Fisher has announced that freshman James Blackman will start as quarterback on Saturday's game versus the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks.

During a press conference with media, Fisher said that Francois has torn his patella tendon and will be undergoing surgery Tuesday. According to Fisher, the surgery could keep Francois off his feet for 4 to 7 months.

Moving forward, Blackman will be the leading man. Fisher said that Blackman has "presence and poise," making him a strong choice for Saturday's game.

Fisher said that his message to Blackman will be to "show up, prepare, make good decisions."

Saturday's game will take place at 7 p.m. at the Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee.
