JEFFERSON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Jefferson County Sheriff has passed away.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office confirmed that Sheriff David C. Hobbs passed away Monday morning.
They say he passed due to complications with his lung cancer medication. Sheriff Hobbs had been battling cancer for awhile.
Hobbs has served as Sheriff of Jefferson County since 2004.
Prior to that, Hobbs served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve from 1976-1982 and worked with the Florida Highway Patrol for 11 years.
