JACKSON COUNTY, FL. (WTXL)-- Volunteers and Jackson County Sheriff's Office helped out a local family Saturday morning to build a much needed Wheel Chair Ramp.

Bryson Hodges is three years old and suffered a traumatic brain injury after being nearly beaten to death by his mother's boyfriend. He now lives with his Grandparents but the Johnson's have had to carry him and his wheel chair up a small flight of stairs just to get him in and out of the house.

When the JCSO heard about the family, the immediately began to build the new ramp.

But, the ramp is just the beginning. The sheriff's office have gotten the family approved for a new home courtesy of the habitat for humanity.

The Johnson's are currently working to adopt Bryson, saying they have already started the paperwork and are hoping to for it to be official soon.
