JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Police say a 28-year-old man is accused of suffocating his mother inside her Jacksonville apartment.
Henry Sean Harriford was arrested Thursday, a day after the body of 59-year-old Janette Harriford was found by co-workers who were concerned for her safety.
The Florida Times-Union (http://bit.ly/1rW3Fdu ) reports the son was outside the apartment when the co-workers arrived. He told them his mother was inside, then left the scene. He later returned and was arrested. He's being held without bond and it's not known whether he's hired an attorney.
Assistant chief Chris Butler says the son was trying to get money from his mother. She had an injunction for protection against her son and he had been arrested for ignoring those warnings. Butler says the son has been Baker Acted 17 times.
