JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) -- A Jackson County man is behind bars after authorities say he held his ex-girlfriend hostage for three days.
James Melvin is charged with false imprisonment and battery.
Deputies say on Saturday, they got a tip that the 46-year-old was holding a woman inside her own home.
The victim later told investigators that Melvin would not let her leave her house, and had hit and choked her several times.
He's being held at the Jackson County jail.
