JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - The Jackson County Sheriff's Office four-legged members have received new body armor thanks to a donation from a non-profit organization.
Deputies said that K9's Max and Roxy received bullet and stab protective vests from Vested Interest in K9's, Inc. The organization's mission is to provide vests to law enforcement dogs throughout the U.S.
They said that each vest has a value between $1,795 and $2,234, a five year warrant, and an average weight of four to five pounds.
Both dog's vests were sponsored by an anonymous donor and are embroidered with the sentiment, "in memory of Marie and Bill Jennings." Both dogs are also 4-years-old German Shepards that are certified in narcotics work.
