JACKSON COUNTY, FL (WTXL) - Jackson County deputies are searching for a 37-year-old man, who is accused of sexual battery of his son's 15-year-old girlfriend.

According to deputies, just after 5:30am Tuesday, deputies received a call of a sexual battery of a juvenile.

Investigators discovered that a 17-year-old male had brought his 15-year-old girlfriend to his father's house the night before (June 22nd). During that evening, investigators say the father, 37-year-old James Daniel Sergel, and the two teenagers went to a liquor store, and Sergel bought alcohol for them.

According to the investigation, once back at the residence, Sergel gave the 15 year old alcoholic drinks, and the teenager eventually passed out. Investigators say Sergel then forced the unconscious 15-year-old to perform oral sex on him.

That's when, according to the sheriff's office, the 17 year old woke up and started fighting with his father. Sergel then kicked him out of the house. The teenage son then called a friend, and upon arrival, he was able to get back inside.

Once inside, deputies say the 17 year old witnessed what he believed to be another sexual assault on the 15-year-old victim. The teenager was able to get his girlfriend, and they left the residence. They then reported the incident to law enforcement.

A search warrant for Sergel has been obtained, and deputies are actively searching for his whereabouts. Sergel is a white male.

If anyone knows of his whereabouts, they can call the Jackson County Sheriff's Office at 482-9624 or Crimestoppers at 526-5000 and remain anonymous. The investigation is still ongoing, and charges are forthcoming.
