JACKSON CO., Fla. (WTXL) - Two North Florida residents are arrested on drug charges during a traffic stop in Jackson County.

On July 20, 2016, a Jackson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO) deputy pulled over a gold Ford truck on Basswood Road for having inoperable equipment. A K9 deputy arrived with K9 Max who alerted the deputies to the odor of drugs.

Deputies performed a probable cause search and say they found several items inside the passenger compartment, including nearly 8 grams of MDMA, over 20 grams of marijuana, Xanax and Hydrocodone tablets, and drug paraphernalia.

According to deputies, the driver, 41-year old Shelby Lee Britt of Tallahassee told them he had a drug problem and admitted to having the drugs without a prescription.

They say the passenger, 20-year-old Kristen Lee Ann Norris of Crawfordville, had marijuana and drug paraphernalia on her.

Both Britt and Norris were arrested on several charges and taken to the Jackson County Correctional Facility.
