Jackson Co. deputies crack down on meth

Posted

JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Law enforcement in Jackson County is taking a proactive approach when it comes to dealing with a rising meth problem in the area.

This comes after three drug arrests in three days.

All of those arrests were made during traffic stops. The Jackson County Sheriff's Office says it's officers are now working alongside the narcotics department, equipped with a k-9.

"We focus on two areas," said Captain Scott Edwards with the Sheriff's Office. "We focus on the users, we try to get them off the streets and then of course we try to focus on the dealers, not only the local dealers but the people who are bringing them into the community."

The sheriff's departments in Jackson, Washington and Holmes counties are also working together to get drug users into rehab facilities across the state.
