THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WTXL)--J.C. Penny is shutting its doors in Thomasville.
The company announced about 140 stores are closing across the country including the one at Gateway Plaza.
The one at the Tifton Mall is on the list too.
The company says about 5,000 jobs will be impacted nationwide by the closures, most of which will occur in June.
Most of the affected stores will begin the liquidation process on April 17th.
