Investigators Search for Suspect Behind Multiple Lowndes County Fires

VALDOSTA, GA (WTXL) - Georgia investigators announced that they have begun an active search for a suspect they believe is responsible for nine building fires in Valdosta.

State Fire Investigators and the Valdosta Police Department said they are looking for 24-year-old Benjamin Wilcox. They said that his last known address was on Windsor Street in Valdosta. 

Safety Fire Commissioner Ralph Hudgens' office said that Wilcox is wanted for questioning in connection with nine building fires that happened between June and October 2016. 

Hudgens said, "Eight vacant houses and one church sustained heavy damage from the fires, which are within a 1-mile radius of each other.” 

Investigators said that Wilcox is a white male with dark black hair, measuring in at 5 feet and 8 inches tall, and weighs 172 pounds.
