Investigation Underway After Car Crashes Into Liberty County High School

UPDATE (3:35 p.m.) WTXL - Students at Liberty County High School got the day off today (Tuesday, March 17) after a man drove his truck into the school.

The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) says Jackie Barber, 62, of Bristol was approaching the intersection of State Roads 12 and 20 and the vehicle didn't stop.

Troopers say Barber drove through the school parking lot and into the side of the building.

  

Barber was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

The Superintendent says $50,000 to $100,000 in damage was caused by the crash.

FHP is investigating and say charges are pending.

Update (5:30 a.m.): The Liberty County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that Liberty County High School will be closed today because of the crash.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- A Florida driver was hospitalized overnight, after their car crashed into Liberty County High School.

Police say Jackie Barber, 62, of Bristol, was approaching the intersection of State Roads 12 and 20 when the car didn't stop.

Barber then drove through the school parking lot and into the side of the building.

Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Charges are pending.
