DECATUR COUNTY, Ga. (WTXL) - A well known Decatur County pilot was killed Thursday night in a plane crash on his own runway.
Decatur County Sheriff's officials say 50-year-old Donald Anderson was killed on impact when his single engine prop airplane crashed just before 7 p.m. last night.
It went down at the end of his own private airstrip on his property on Eula Mills Road, near Vada.
Police say they believe a tree caused the accident.
Decatur County Sheriff Wiley Griffin said, "We believe he clipped a tree on the way down which lead to him crashing the aircraft."
Sheriff Griffin says the FAA has been notified and will be at the crash site today to investigate.
The body has been sent to the GBI crime lab.
