MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) - Lieutenant Grady Jordan from the Leon County Sheriff's Office joins WTXL on set to talk about back-to-school safety tips kids and parents need to know.
Walking:
- leave early and arrive early to school
- go straight home from school
- try to walk to school with other students
- teach children to recognize traffic signs
Bicycling:
- make sure the school allows students to ride bikes to school
- make sure the kids wear helmets
- if possible, ride with other students
School zones:
- obey speed limits
- stop for school buses
- watch out for school crossing guards
