TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A mentally-ill inmate's attack at the Leon County Jail left a corrections officer with four facial fractures.

Corrections Officer Kenneth Meade was attacked Saturday morning by David Vickers, 30, who became upset over his lunch option and began arguing with Meade.

Meade had directed Vickers to go to lockdown. But Vickers refused his commands, took a fighting stance and, when Meade pepper-sprayed Vickers, attacked Meade.

Another inmate helped Meade detain Vickers.

Vickers was already jailed on trespassing and disorderly charges. Now he is also charged with aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer.

The officer is on medical leave.
