TALLAHASSEE, FLA. (WTXL) - Florida A & M University kicks off a week of events celebrating their new president.
The formal swearing in ceremony for Doctor Elmira Mangum will take place at 10:10 a-m on Friday, October 3rd. Friday is also FAMU's 127th birthday.
They started inauguration week with a 5k Run, Walk, Roll and Stroll this afternoon. The 5k route began at the Bragg memorial stadium and ended at Cascades park.
Runners and walkers enjoyed a jazz concert after the 5-k. Organizers say many other members of the community enjoyed the free concert at cascades park as well.
People were also asked to bring new maternity and infant clothing or other nursery and newborn items for a donation drive. Those donations benefited healthy babies and women receiving early and regular prenatal care.
