JEFFERSONVILLE, Ga. (AP) — State fire investigators have determined that an early morning fire that claimed the lives of two people in Twiggs County was accidental.

Authorities say the fire was reported shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday at the home in Jeffersonville.

Glenn Allen, a spokesman for Georgia's fire commissioner, said the two people killed were 79-year-old Herschel S. Odom; and his wife, 75-year-old Elizabeth Odom.

Allen said fire investigators determined that an electrical malfunction led to the blaze, though an exact cause wasn't determined due to the extensive damage to the structure.

Jeffersonville is about 25 miles southeast of Macon.
