MARIANNA , Fla. (WTXL) - A Texas man who traveled to Marianna to assist with Hurricane Michael recovery efforts was arrested after officers found him in possession of various drugs.

According to a press release, on Friday at 6:30 p.m. officers with the Marianna and Davie Police departments were investigating a suspicious vehicle on Kelson Avenue.

Officers searched and spoke with the suspect, Christopher Minhinnett, 36.

Documents say Minihinnett took a glass container from his pocket and threw it across the parking lot. The glass container shattered, and officers found a small amount of methamphetamine inside. When officers searched the vehicle, they found a glass meth smoking pipe and less than 20 grams of marijuana.

Minhinnett told officers he had traveled from Texas to assist in the aftermath of Hurricane Michael.

Based on the evidence, Minhinnett was arrested on various drug charges and booked into the Jackson County Correction Facility.

Chief Baggett urges the citizens of Marianna to report suspicious behavior and activities to the Marianna Police Department at 850-526-3125.
