(CNN WIRE) -  “Sad Papaw” didn’t have to eat alone and isn’t sad anymore after hundreds of people showed up for his burger cookout this weekend.

“Papaw,” whose real name is Kenny Harmon, hosted a cookout and invited anyone who wanted a burger to come and enjoy one with him.

Harmon’s photo went viral March 16 after his granddaughter posted a picture of him with a sad expression as he ate a hamburger at his house.

“Dinner with papaw tonight. He made 12 burgers for all 6 grandkids and I’m the only one who showed. Love him,” read her tweet, which has been retweeted more than 181,000 times and liked almost 300,000 times.

People were able to by burgers for $2 each, and buy t-shirts that read “I ate a burger with sad Papaw.” Many people even waited in line just to say to hello to the social media star.

The theme that’s coming to me from almost everybody is their grandparents, their great grandparents, what they want to do now or what they wish they had done before,” Harmon told KOCO.

Also of note, all but one of his six grandchildren made it to the cookout. The only one who couldn’t make it, was the granddaughter who originally posted his picture, because she had to play in a college softball game.
