TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Hundreds commemorated one of our nation's most important time periods on Saturday.
The season of emancipation festival is put on by the 2nd Infantry Regiment United State Colored Troops Living Association. It's designed to educate participants about the Civil War all while celebrating American soldiers and their families.
The event is perfect timing as Saturday also marks Armed Forces Day. The day included live music, horse back rides, history presentations and variety of talented stage performances.
Organizers say the event is important not only to celebrate our nations war heroes, but to educate the young generation about our country's history. The festival wrapped up today and was free to the public.
