TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Hundreds of high school and college students turned out to the Florida IT Career (FITC) Alliance Fair Monday.
It was held in the Turnbull Center and featured more than 50 employers.
The goal of the FITC Alliance is to help North Florida students discover opportunities in computer and information technology fields.
The alliance is a joint effort by Florida State and Florida A&M Universities.
It is funded by a $3 million grant from the Florida Board of Governors as a part of an ambitious effort to align college degrees with the state's workforce needs.
Adrian Heig, a sophomore at Florida State and one of the fair's attendees, says the event is good for those looking to get into the IT industry.
"Just to gain knowledge on career aspects of the career that I want that I didn't already know," said Heig, an FSU Business/Marketing Major.
The event included a mini-conference for high school students and teachers with speakers on a variety of topics such as networking, technology trends and potential career paths.
