TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Thanksgiving can be fun, but for some it can also be a stressful experience, and not just because of the cooking.
Family Therapist Jane Marks said the anticipation of the event itself can be stressful.
"What we're talking about is anticipatory anxiety," said Marks. "They anticipate that there are going to be high expectations for these wonderful experiences and someone can become very emotional about it."
So to help with the anxiety, Marks said have a plan and assign kids jobs like setting the table or greeting guests at the door.
Exercising before dinner can also help and most important communication between family members.
