LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Summer is upon us and it's only gonna get hotter. Not just for you but for your pets as well.
According to the Leon County Humane Society, pets need plenty of shade and water during outside activities.
Officials also warn about leaving your pets in hot vehicles.
"If the car is hot to you it's hot to your pets and even in the shade the cars can heat up very quickly," said Lisa Glunt of the Leon County Humane Society. "Make sure your car is safely inside with air conditioning and do not leave then unattended."
The Leon County Humane Society is also urging pet owners to be mindful of insects and make sure pets are on flea and tick prevention.
