TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)--It's time to get rid of old and unused prescription drugs.
On Saturday, law enforcement agencies in both north Florida and south Georgia will have drug drop off sites readily available for you as part of National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. You can click here to find one near you.
It's an effort to keep the drugs from being misused and abused and from becoming a health hazard.
Gene Jones, the executive director of Southern Waste Information Exchange, Inc., shared some tips with us on WTXL ABC 27 News at Five on how to properly dispose unwanted drugs. He also told us about an event called Operation Medicine Cabinet coming up October 3 at Costco in Tallahassee. It's from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. You can bring both over the counter and prescription drugs.
You can also contact Ray Moreau at SWIX at 850-386-6280 or e-mail ray@swixusa.org if you have questions about the event.
