KANSAS CITY, MO (KSHB/CNN) - A package thief developed remorse and returned stolen goods to a Kansas City home, even writing an apology letter.
When Dave Brucker launched Stolen KC in 2014, he had no idea how large it would get.
The community awareness page on Facebook grew everyday.
Brucker said he reads through every post. One day, he came across one that caught his eye.
"It was reminiscent to me that what we are there for is reuniting theft victims with their items," he said.
An Overland Park homeowner's Ring camera captured two people lingering by his door, taking off with his packages.
So he posted the video to the page and days later, all of his stuff was back on his porch accompanied with a note.
"If you read the letter, you see there really is emotion in it," Brucker said.
The letter apologized for taking the boxes, asking for forgiveness.
"I have children and I need to be a better role model," the letter said.
It's an outcome Brucker always hopes for.
"We are all there for the same type of goals," he said. "We really want to be a community, help the community and help those are in need."
