TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Tallahassee fire crews are responded to a house fire at Fermanagh Circle Thursday afternoon.

The Tallahassee Fire Department says the fire broke out at a home at 3729 Fermanagh Circle, which sits in a Killearn neighborhood.

They say the fire broke out in the garage of the home.

Officials say the homeowner was mowing the grass and after he was done, he put the lawn mower inside his garage. He then went into the kitchen and after some time, noticed smoke coming from the garage.

That's when he called 911.

Crews were able to extinguish the fire in about 30 minutes, though the homeowner's dog died from the smoke.

TFD says the man was taken to a local hospital in unknown condition. Red Cross assistance was offered, but was declined.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Damages are estimated at $200,000.
