TALLAHASSE, FLA. (WTXL) - The Big Bend Homeless Coalition and Tallahassee community could be one step closer to ending homelessness. According to the Big Bend's annual Point-in-Time Survey, there are less then 800 homeless people on Tallahassee streets this year.
The Point-In-Time Count Acts as a Homeless census for the local community. Almost 200 volunteers came out to help conduct the 3 day long interview process. 777 people reported being homeless this year in comparison to the 805 total reported in 2014.
The Big Bend Homeless Coalition says they're not done yet, they've set a new a goal to eliminate homeless veterans in Tallahassee by the end of this year.
The coalition is still collecting data from the 2015 survey. They say the final numbers from the survey will be released sometime in April.
