MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) - Cobb County prosecutors say a man convicted in a home invasion robbery has been sentenced to 30 years with 18 to serve in prison.
District attorney's spokeswoman Kim Isaza said in a statement Thursday that 20-year-old Johnny Pineda was found guilty of armed robbery, aggravated assault and burglary.
Prosecutors have said Pineda in November of 2012 robbed several juveniles who were in the home of laptops, jewelry and more.
Assistant District Attorney Marty First said Pineda tried arguing that he was not responsible for the incident because of his excessive use of illegal drugs. Isaza says Pineda's accomplice, Zyheed Roberts, has already pleaded guilty in the case.
Prosecutors say 17 county sheriff's deputies also testified during Pineda's trial about criminal acts and infractions he committed while he was awaiting trial.
